The weather today is a bit chillier than the day before. Which I love.
Finally, after months of heat, we in the South are entering that blessed season called fall. Autumn.
Leaves are changing. Temperatures are dropping. And it’s a hot beverage and soup kind of day.
I absolutely love hot chocolate. Who doesn’t? Although my husband would choose hot cider over chocolate any day, I don’t hold it against him. I actually found an excellent recipe for ciderand posted it some months earlier which you can see here.
Sometimes I’m in the mood for plain hot chocolate. But today, I was in the mood to spice things up.
It’s calming. Relaxing. Perfect in combination with the warm liquid chocolate. Perfect to take the extra chill off the day.
For this recipe, which I found in my Essential Oils magazine, by the publishers of Success Magazine, the following ingredients were needed:
8 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa(I use organic)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
4 Tbsp raw, organic, unfiltered honey (or more, for taste)
1-2 drops of Lavender Vitality, by Young Living (the only brand I trust when it comes to edible essential oils)
I save the lavender for last!
If serving to children, you may want to test the temperature by dipping a finger into your own before serving. If it’s still toasty, put in the fridge for a moment, or add an ice cube.
My kids love adding small, candy coated chocolates to the drink to make it extra chocolaty. I know some people like marshmallows, but I normally ban marshmallows in my home due to them being a choking hazard. These smashmallows I’ve tried aren’t as bad, but I still make sure my kids are seated and supervised when we have them.
